The titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel, known as Stainless Steel 321 Round Bars and Rods, is made up of roughly 17–19% Chromium and 9–12% Nickel. Titanium (≥5x C%) is added to improve intergranular corrosion resistance. With a yield strength of about 205 MPa and a tensile strength between 515 and 750 MPa, the alloy has exceptional mechanical qualities. Even at high temperatures, it retains good toughness and ductility. SS 321 is appropriate for extended thermal exposure and cyclic heating conditions due to its exceptional resistance to oxidation and scaling in high-temperature environments up to 870°C.

Round bars and rods made of stainless steel 321 are frequently used in applications that call for resistance to intergranular corrosion and high temperatures. These consist of aircraft engine parts, heat exchangers, exhaust manifolds, furnace parts, and thermal oxidisers. They are appropriate for welded structures in chemical processing, power plants, and refinery equipment because the titanium stabilisation stops carbide precipitation during welding and heating. Additionally, SS 321 is used in the pulp and paper, food processing, and pharmaceutical industries where hygienic conditions and thermal stability are critical. It is a material of choice for long-term, high-performance industrial use due to its exceptional formability, durability, and resistance to scaling.
