Brian Fasteners is pleased to produce and supply high-quality Stainless Steel 431 Bars and Rods from its well–equipped plant in Houston, USA. Stainless Steel 431 is a martensitic stainless steel with high tensile and torque strength and moderate resistance to corrosion. It is suitable for use where high mechanical performance and satisfactory protection against atmospheric and chemical corrosion is needed. We offer 431 rods in different sizes, conditions (e.g., annealed or hardened), and surface finishes to cater to industry-specific requirements. Our products conform to ASTM A276 and AMS specifications with full traceability and guarantee of quality for rigorous engineering and industrial applications.
Stainless Steel 431 has an approximate composition of 15.0–17.0% chromium and 1.25–2.50% nickel with a maximum of 0.20% carbon. It is a hardenable steel possessing very high tensile strength (up to 850 MPa in heat-treated condition) and excellent toughness. The yield point is in the order of 520 MPa, and it possesses a Brinell hardness up to 300 HB in hardened condition. 431 resists corrosion in mild environments well and is very resistant to fatigue as well as stress corrosion cracking when heat-treated appropriately. It is ferromagnetic in all conditions and moderately machinable.

Stainless Steel 431 Bars and Rods are ideal for applications requiring high strength and corrosion resistance. They are commonly used in marine, aerospace, automotive, and engineering industries for manufacturing shafts, fasteners, valve components, and other high-strength parts exposed to harsh environments.
Stainless Steel 431 offers a combination of high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and good wear resistance, making it suitable for demanding applications. Unlike other grades, it has a higher hardness and is often used where mechanical performance and toughness are critical.
Stainless Steel 431 offers good machinability, but due to its high hardness, it may require specialized tools and techniques compared to lower-grade stainless steels. Proper machining practices can help achieve the desired results while maintaining the material's strength and integrity.
431 stainless steel rods and bars find extensive applications in aerospace parts, pump shafts, valve components, marine fittings, and automotive uses. Their excellent strength and resistance to wear and mild corrosion qualify them for use in turbine blades, fasteners, and oil & gas machinery. The metal is suitable for operation in water-exposed environments, mild chemicals, and slightly acidic media. It is widely employed in shafts that need to be strong and require general corrosion protection. Brian Fasteners provides 431 stainless steel rods of special lengths and finishes, designed to client specifications for high-performance, high-reliability applications.
