Stainless Steel 420 Hex Bars are made of martensitic stainless steel, which has a chromium content of 12–14% and a carbon content of up to 0.15%. Manganese, silicon, and sulphur are added in trace amounts. The alloy has moderate corrosion resistance, high hardness, and is heat-treatable. Following hardening, 420 can reach a Rockwell hardness of 50–55 HRC and a tensile strength of about 700–800 MPa. When annealed, it has good ductility and can be polished to a high sheen. 420 is renowned for its strength, durability, and economical performance in a range of mechanical and cutting applications.
