George Metals is a prominent US-based Houston-based manufacturer and supplier of high-performance stainless steel products. Among its high-end products is Stainless Steel 347 Forgings, which are known for their strength and superior heat resistance. The company is known for providing standard and custom forgings that adhere to rigid industrial standards and can be used in demanding environments. With advanced manufacturing technologies and a quality assurance focus, George Metals produces forges that have higher mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, making them a reliable option for various industries in the petrochemical, power, and aerospace industries.
347 Stainless Steel Forgings are manufactured from a columbium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel for high-performance applications in high-temperature and corrosive processes. The chemical composition is generally a mixture of chromium (17–19%), nickel (9–13%), carbon (up to 0.08%), and minor elements such as manganese, silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur. These forgings have superior mechanical properties, including a tensile strength of about 515 MPa and a yield strength of about 205 MPa, with satisfactory elongation and toughness. The forging process also strains and grain refines the structure, enhancing strength and resisting stress corrosion cracking, and for this reason 347 forgings are best suited for severe environments.
