Stainless Steel 316 Hex Bars and Rods consist of about 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, with the rest being iron. Addition of molybdenum gives improved resistance to corrosion, especially to chlorides and acidic conditions. Some mechanical properties are tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of approximately 40%. Bars have good toughness, weldability, and resistance at cryogenic temperatures. Stainless Steel 316 is not magnetic in the condition of annealed and has very good forming and machining properties, which make it suitable for precision-engineered components.
