Stainless Steel 202 hex bars/rods contain 17–19% chromium, 4–6% nickel, and manganese as a nickel partial replacement, thereby being lower in cost compared to 300 series stainless steels. This austenitic alloy has good toughness, corrosion resistance, and formability. The mechanical properties are tensile strength of about 515 MPa, yield strength of about 275 MPa, and good elongation. Stainless Steel 202 also offers very good machinability and can be welded or shaped easily. Its composition is well-balanced and its mechanical properties make it a convenient material of choice for components requiring moderate strength and corrosion resistance with a reasonable price tag.
