SMO 254 Bars and Rods are produced from a super-austenitic stainless steel alloy with around 20% chromium, 18% nickel, 6% molybdenum, and nitrogen that strengthens and also resists pitting. This composition provides the alloy with a high PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) of more than 42. The alloy has excellent tensile strength (approximately 650 MPa) and high impact toughness. The product—SMO 254 Bars/Rods—comes in an extensive array of dimensions and finishes, providing superior corrosion resistance, particularly against crevice and pitting corrosion in hostile chloride environments.
