Nitronic XM‑19 is an austenitic chromium-nickel-manganese-nitrogen stainless steel alloy containing 17–19% chromium, 11–13% nickel, 4–6% manganese, and 0.1–0.2% nitrogen. There is no molybdenum and copper in the alloy. The alloy has tensile strength ranging between 800–1,200 MPa, yield strength around 500–900 MPa, and elongation between 40–60%. XM‑19 has superior corrosion resistance, especially in chloride and sulfuric acid media, and retains mechanical strength up to 650 °C. High nitrogen improves stress corrosion cracking resistance and toughness and is therefore ideal for harsh and corrosive environments.
