Monel 400 Forgings consist mainly of about 63% nickel and 30–34% copper, with trace elements of iron, manganese, silicon, and carbon. This solid-solution alloy has a wonderful resistance to corrosion in broad environments, such as seawater and acidic media. Monel 400 has tensile strength of about 480–620 MPa, yield strength of about 170–275 MPa, and elongation of 30–40%. The alloy has good toughness at sub-zero temperatures and has wonderful weldability and thermal conductivity. Monel 400 does not age harden and is hardened by cold working only.
