Brian Fasteners exports Carbon Steel EN-42 Bars from Houston, a nickel-chromium high-carbon steel having superior toughness and wear resistance. EN-42 bars are tempered and oil-hardened to provide top surface hardness and core strength. Our bars conform to BS 970 and ASTM A29 standards and are provided with full certification. Thoroughly machined and quality tested, EN‑42 bars are best suited for parts under abrasive and high-stress conditions.
EN-42 normally has ~0.40–0.45% C, 1.00–1.30% Mn, ~1.30–1.70% Cr, and ~1.30–1.70% Ni. After heat treatment, tensile strength can be 850–1000 MPa with yield strength of about 600–700 MPa. Surface hardness is usually greater than 55 HRC, while there is a tough core for wear resistance and shock absorbing.
