EN‑31 has ~0.95–1.05% C, ~1.45–1.65% Cr, ~0.30–0.60% Mn, and traces of Si; the remainder Fe. Following oil hardening and tempering, tensile strength is up to 900–1100 MPa, with hardness to 62–65 HRC. Excellent wear and toughness after heat treatment is provided.
