Brian Fasteners produces and provides Aluminium 5086 Bars and Rods, perfect for marine and structural use when corrosion resistance and strength are key. This non-heat treatable aluminum-magnesium alloy exhibits high strength and superior resistance to seawater. 5086 is widely employed in commercial shipbuilding and military shipbuilding, transportation equipment, and pressure vessels. Our Houston-based stock conforms to ASTM B221 specifications, and we offer precision-machined bars with close tolerances and full traceability. Brian Fasteners maintains consistent quality and timely delivery, serving businesses throughout the U.S. as well as overseas with confidence.
Aluminium 5086 has 3.5–4.5% magnesium, 0.45–0.9% manganese, and minor chromium. It provides tensile strength of 275–350 MPa and yield strength of about 240 MPa in the H116 or H32 temper. It is not heat treatable but work hardens well, providing good weldability and resistance to corrosion in severe exposure. It resists pitting in seawater and retains strength after welding, making it suitable for marine exposure. It also resists stress corrosion cracking more than 5005 or 5052.
