Brian Fasteners produces Aluminium 5082 Forgings at our Houston plant, supplying high-performance solutions for marine and industrial applications. 5082 is renowned for superior saltwater corrosion resistance and also has good strength and weldability. Standard and custom forgings conform to ASTM requirements and receive precise machining and strict quality inspection. Our forgings have dimensional precision, toughness, and endurance under harsh mechanical loads. Available in various shapes and sizes, Aluminium 5082 forgings are tailored to client needs for structural and functional excellence in offshore, automotive, and pressure-vessel applications.
Made up of ~4.0–4.9% Mg and ~0.4–1.0% Mn with traces of Cr; remainder Al. Tensile strength 270–350 MPa, yield ~215 MPa. Not heat-treatable but cold-workable, 5082 has high fatigue strength and good corrosion resistance in sea water and industrial atmospheres. It has good weldability and strength to retain post-welding. It can be used for heavy-duty assemblies.

Aluminum 5082 offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good weldability, and enhanced fatigue resistance, making it ideal for custom forgings in marine, aerospace, and structural applications.
The forging process for Aluminium 5082 typically takes between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the complexity of the part, size, and the specific forging method used.
Aluminum 5082's workability, characterized by good machinability and medium strength, allows for easy shaping during forging. However, its relatively low work hardening rate may require careful temperature control.
Applied in marine hull fittings, fuel tanks for motor vehicles, hydraulic pistons, wheels for trucks, pressure vessels, and structural parts. Suitable for offshore platforms, oilfield machinery, and parts that need to withstand in corrosive environments. Applied in refrigeration systems and welded structures. Brian Fasteners supplies 5082 forgings designed for performance and reliability under harsh structural and environmental conditions.
