Brian Fasteners provides top-quality AISI 8620 alloy steel bars and rods from Houston, USA. Made with care and tested diligently under metallurgical conditions, our 8620 bars boast superior strength, toughness, and wear-resistant case properties. Specially suited for carburizing and case-hardening applications, they ensure consistent and dependable performance. With our commitment to quality control and customer satisfaction, Brian Fasteners serves automotive, industrial, and power transmission markets with reliable steel solutions to position oils, gears, and shafts to achieve precise engineering requirements with better performance and longevity.
AISI 8620 has 0.18–0.23% carbon, 0.70–0.90% manganese, 0.40–0.60% chromium, 0.15–0.25% molybdenum, and 0.40–0.60% nickel. The low-carbon, case-hardening alloy provides the best core–case balance. Tensile strength is 580–760 MPa; yield strength is around 340–520 MPa. Its core is ductile with core elongation of ~15–20%, whereas surface hardness can be over HRC 55 after heat treatment. Ideal for carburizing and case-hardening operations, AISI 8620 bars attain wear resistance while retaining toughness and shock absorption in the core.

AISI 8620 Bars and Rods offer excellent strength, toughness, and wear resistance, making them ideal for high-stress applications.
Yes, AISI 8620 Bars and Rods can be heat treated to enhance their hardness and overall performance for demanding applications.
AISI 8620 Bars and Rods are commonly used in automotive, aerospace, and heavy machinery industries for gears, shafts, and axles.
AISI 8620 rods and bars find widespread use in automotive and industrial machinery fasteners, pins, gears, camshafts, pinions, and shafts. Case-hardening makes them superior in wear resistance with a tough, ductile core—ideal for high-load gears and drivetrain applications. Crankshafts, transmission shafts, and steering gears are some components that advantage from the use of this alloy due to its fatigue strength. Its strong combination of surface strength and internal hardness also makes it suitable for farm and construction machinery. For uses requiring long-term life under cyclic loading, 8620 alloy steel is a popular choice.
